Autograph letter signed : [Florence], to "Dearest Joanie" [Joan Severn], 1903 Nov. 26.

Sending apologies that neither Alexander nor her "Mammina," Lucia Gray Swett Alexander, have written "in a great while," noting that "letter-writing every year becomes more difficult for [Mammina], and as for [Alexander,] all summer [she] has had nobody to write for [her]." Noting that the Alexanders "stayed at Bassano much later than usual," where "the principle event of the summer was the great c[y]clone" and "the election of the new Pope." Expressing condolences that Severn's daughter-in-law has "passed into another church," and expressing thankfulness that Severn's daughter Lily has completely recovered (see MA 7362.131). Thanking Severn for offering the Alexander's the drawing from Alexander's Roadside Songs of Tuscany found in the college (see MA 7362.132, 134-135), and asking her to send a note arranging it with Mr. Spilmann. Also referencing a meeting between Severn and Alexander, hoping "always that one day [they] shall meet again," and noting that "if only [she] could see [Severn] once again, how many things [she] would have to tell."
